The XII WASCO World Championship of TOUCHSPARRING took place in Sardinia in Maracalagonis city 3-8 June 2010.
60 International Referee, about 40 persons of WASCO Staff and 432 competitors, of different ages from all corners of the world arrived to Sardinia to take part in this beautiful Sports Event in spite of the world economic crisis.
During the opening ceremony which was held in the Palace of the Sports of Maracalagonis on 4 June the twenty two countries’ teams were personally awarded by WASCO President Grand Master Gianni Sarritzu by the welcome prizes: Argentina, Austria, Croatia, Ethiopia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Slovacchia, Switzerland, USA, Republic Uzbekistan.
The cordial welcoming words were said by the Mayor of Maracalagonis Mrs.Antonella Corona
and by the Sports assessor of Maracalagonis Mr.Andrea Corona and other WASCO eminent guests.
WASCO World Championship was expected by the public and it had a great resonance. The journalists from the main Italian National TV Channels and newspapers worked there. The XII WASCO World Championship had a big success!
Dr. Antonello Seu WASCO Medical Department Chairman and Dr. Mariano Cera WASCO Medical Department Vice Chairman who provided the medical support of the Championship tell that by their opinion it was one of the most successful and safety events in the fighting world they have ever seen and has been remembered by many ever since.
Of course, as well at this Championship there were no injuries and accidents!
On 7 of June all participants and spectators were very happy to welcome warmly the Chairman of WASCO-Asian Department Mr.Dovranbek Alimbekov who arrived there in spite of being extremely busy to meet with WASCO president Grand Master Sarritzu during the days of WASCO World Championships. In the same evening the special WASCO meeting took place with the presence of WASCO President Grand Master Gianni Sarritzu, General Secretary Mrs.Victoria Abugova, Chairman of WASCO-Asian Department Mr.Dovranbek Alimbekov and several other appointed persons. During very fruitful discussion among the themes were touched upon the issue of the developing of WASCO-Asian Department which was established on 27 March this year, and the steps of creating in the nearest future other departments such as WASCO-South America which is establishing now, WASCO-Africa, WASCO-North America and WASCO-Oceania.
At the last day of the Championship after the last medal awarding ceremony a closing ceremony and a farewell-party were held, with WASCO officials, guests and representatives from the Region of Maracalagonis, where WASCO President Grand Master Sarritzu expressed thanks to the organizers and the participants for this great championship.
The next WASCO World Championship will be planed to be organized in Spain in 2011.
Thus, one more WASCO World Championship has finished with big success and as usual without injuries. We know that many organizations in the world want to achieve the same results for themselves.
That’s why it never becomes a surprise when WASCO sees that some NON-WASCO-members’ clubs and organizations which were invited to several WASCO Events try to copy the system of WASCO Referee Rules, overall or partially.
We realize well that WASCO Tournament Rules are realty very good; as the result, we have seen WASCO Championships without accidents.
